Website Redesign Cost: How to Compare Quotes and Avoid Hidden Costs

Website redesign cost depends on the work included, the condition of the existing site and who prepares the content. Two identical prices can buy very different outcomes. First compare the same scope, then separate the initial project from the cost of running the website.

01Why a universal price is rarely useful

A small site with approved copy and unchanged URLs differs from a multilingual catalogue with product migration. Redesigning a homepage differs from rebuilding every template and its editing system. An estimate needs a page inventory, content types, required functions and constraints. This guide does not claim an average price for the US or Europe: that would require a comparable dataset. UZNEO estimates projects after discussing scope. The fictional figures below are neither our prices nor a market benchmark.

02Give every provider the same comparison table

Ask each provider to complete the same table. Included should identify a quantity: templates, languages, records to migrate and revision rounds. Mark unknown items as questions rather than assuming they are free.
WorkDefine in the quoteAcceptance evidence
Structure and designTemplates, states, mobile layoutsAgreed journeys and designs
ContentWho writes, translates and enters itApproved material inventory

MigrationURLs, records and imagesTested mapping and reconciliation
MeasurementEvents and connected systemsAgreed test and received record
SupportDuration, scope and exclusionsRequest-handling arrangements
List the materials the customer must supply and their due dates. Copy and approval delays can affect the project calendar.

03Calculate a comparable project total

Fictional illustration, not actual quotes: proposal A costs $2,000 but excludes $600 of content migration and $400 of testing. Proposal B costs $3,000 and includes that work. On this scope, both comparable totals are $3,000. That does not establish equal quality, timing or support. Use a simple rule: comparable cost equals the quoted base plus required excluded work. Resolve unknowns first. Evaluate discounts after normalising the scope; a cheap start can leave an expensive unfinished project.

04Separate the first year from monthly running costs

Create two lists: one-off delivery and ongoing operation. The latter may include hosting, the domain, licences, paid services and agreed support. Advertising spend is also separate from website development. For an otherwise comparable project, calculate launch cost plus twelve monthly charges plus annual charges and required extras. Do not count a licence twice if support already includes it. State the billing currency and conditions for changes to recurring prices. Any applicable mandatory charges should be clarified for the particular contract.

05Check ownership and the ability to leave

Identify the owner of the domain, hosting, repository, original assets and service accounts. Clarify handover, content export and replacement of the provider. A template or font licence can have its own terms; paying for development does not explain those terms automatically. Ask what staff will be able to update independently. Our Surxon Plast work provides an example of a catalogue function that should be scoped separately from visual design. It is not a published project quote, and the fictional prices in this guide do not describe that project.

06Agree how changes are priced

Distinguish a defect from a new requirement. If the agreed form does not submit, that is an acceptance issue. If a new language or ordering workflow is requested after approval, estimate the change before starting it. Record who can approve it and how it changes the price and schedule. Do not buy every conceivable feature at launch. Put essentials in the first phase and useful later work in a second phase. Start with our redesign decision checklist, and use the SEO migration guide when discussing URL changes.

07Ask seven questions before agreeing

What exactly will be delivered? Who prepares and enters the content? How many languages and templates are included? Who handles migration? How will forms and tracking be tested? Which charges continue after launch? What is handed over when the engagement ends? Get written answers and connect payment stages to understandable deliverables. An unclear responsibility is easier to resolve before development than after both parties have invested time.

08Request a scoped estimate from UZNEO

Send the current website, required functions, languages and desired date. We can discuss website redesign, content, migration and support, separating essential work from later phases. Tell us whether you need a scope within a budget or several delivery options. We work online from Tashkent. Scope, price, timing and contract terms are agreed before work begins. Use the discussion button below and include your website so we can start with a concrete brief.

Summary

Compare the cost of a finished outcome and its operation. Clear scope, demonstrable acceptance and an understandable handover make quotes easier to judge.
