Can AI create a working business website?

Can AI create a working business website?

AI can help produce a website structure, draft text, images or code. A generated page does not prove that a business can receive enquiries or maintain the result. For a small company, treat AI as a helper for defined tasks and verify the output separately. Consider a fictional cleaning-service website.

01Give AI a bounded first task

Provide services, locations, estimating rules, opening hours and contact methods. Ask for a page outline and customer questions it should answer. Explicitly forbid invented prices, reviews and guarantees. A prototype is a preliminary page model for discussion, not a completed business system. Start with one cleaning service and a clear estimate request instead of generating many pages without meaningful differences.

02Have a person verify facts

Check prices and inclusions with the owner, imagery against the offer and contact details with the manager. Generated interiors can illustrate a topic but must not be presented as completed customer work. Sample testimonials are not real reviews. In each language, verify included services, extra charges and response conditions. A fluent translation can still change a commitment. Assign a person to approve facts for every version.

03Separate appearance from functionality

A form collects input; processing validates, stores and delivers it. A polished success screen does not prove that a request was saved. Login, payments and bookings also need functional tests.
TestExpected outcome
Empty formClear error, no accepted request
Valid formRecord and recipient notification
Repeated clickDefined duplicate handling
Service failureHonest message and agreed data handling
Keep secret keys out of public code and generator prompts. Configure access and connections separately.

04Check mobile and search access

On a narrow screen, confirm readable text, usable buttons and a form within the page width. Check titles, descriptions, addresses, links and whether search can access the main content. Generated markup does not guarantee these properties. Google advises checking accuracy, quality and usefulness regardless of creation method. Generating many pages without added value can violate its policies; see the Google guidance. AI provides no separate ranking or indexing guarantee.

05Assess ownership and completion costs

Check whether you can export code, images and data, which plan supports a domain and who maintains the result. Tool conditions differ. A polished prototype may need substantial work if its structure is unsuitable for future changes. Owners can prepare facts, questions and drafts. Development support becomes useful for working workflows, integrations and maintenance. Compare the complete usable website, not just generation time. Use the mobile website checklist.

06Frequently asked questions

Can AI do everything without a person? It can produce substantial content or code, but an accountable person must verify facts, business logic and acceptance. Will an AI-built site rank? Creation method alone does not secure rankings. Usefulness, accuracy, accessibility and other search conditions matter. Can generated photos be used? Assess them as illustrations under the tool's terms and applicable rights. Do not present fictional scenes as actual work. Must a prototype be rebuilt? Not always. Check code, export and workflows first. Improvements may suffice, or a new structure may be more practical.
