Telegram Mini App: when a salon and a shop outgrow bot buttons

Bot buttons cover a lead and a booking. When you need a catalog, cart, slots like in an app, a “1 / 2 / 3” dialog starts to grate. Then people look at a Telegram Mini App — a web screen inside Telegram, without Google Play or the App Store. The full bot vs native app comparison is in a separate article. Here: salon and shop in Tashkent — when a Mini App fits, when it is too early, how not to lose the lead. UZNEO does not sell a Mini App “because it is trendy.” First the scenario on paper.

01What it is, in one paragraph

A Mini App is a page (often on a web stack) that opens inside Telegram: service catalog, master picker, cart, order status. The user does not download an apk. Updates ship without store moderation. This is not “another bot with pretty buttons.” The interface is closer to a site: product grid, filters, calendar.

02Salon, clinic, booking

A bot is enough if: 5–15 services, one branch, booking “day + time + name + phone”, a reminder. Many salons and cabinets live this way — see booking bot. A Mini App makes sense when: • several masters, overlapping slots, a calendar grid is needed; • packages, extras, work photos in the card; • branches and a map picker; • an account: visit history, reschedule without ten messages. Too early if you have 3 bookings a day and the admin already handles WhatsApp. A complex UI will not grow demand — it will grow the development bill.

03Shop and storefront

A simple price list (20 items, order in DM) — a bot or even a channel with a pin. Mini App — when there is choice: sizes, colors, stock, several items in one order, delivery, Payme/Click. Do not confuse it with a full online store on a website: SEO, search ads, email, legal pages. A Mini App works as a storefront for people already in Telegram (Ads, channel, word of mouth). For “find in Google” you more often need a site. Payments — Payme / Click. A legal entity and a contract with the payment provider still apply.

04When it is too early — honestly

Too early if: • no steady inquiries in Telegram; • nobody to run orders; • assortment changes chaotically, and 1C/spreadsheet cannot serve stock; • the goal is “an app on the resume,” not to close client pain; • the budget will eat the Mini App while the landing and Ads are still empty. Then the order: site or landing → lead bot → Mini App when the catalog grows. Telegram ads — channel or bot.

05Access, languages, the lead must not get lost

Same as a site: Mini App code and hosting — on the company account. Bot token — in a vault, not in the freelancer’s chat. Domain for the webview — yours, see domain and hosting. Languages RU/UZ — as clients write. A calqued UI is worse than 15 screens in one language done well. An order from the Mini App must land in one place: CRM, shift chat, sheet. Otherwise “they ordered in the app, we missed it in WhatsApp.” Link with Google ads — bot and Ads.

06How to choose in 10 minutes

1. Is the client already in Telegram, or do you need to find them in Google? Search → site. Messenger → bot / Mini App. 2. Need a grid/cart, or will 5 buttons do? 3. Is there pain now (slot collisions, order mix-ups) or “for later”? 4. Who fills the catalog after launch? 5. Payment: manager link or inside the screen? To assemble a bot or a web storefront in Telegram — bot for business and website: a Mini App is often the same web, just a different shell.

Summary

A Mini App is for when bot buttons are tight: salon calendar, shop cart. It is not a Google website replacement and not a native app. If bookings are few and the price list is short — start with a bot. If the storefront already gets in the way of selling inside Telegram — design the Mini App like a site: company access, one order journal, an honest catalog. UZNEO writes the scenario before mockups.
