Telegram bot and Google Ads: how not to lose leads between click and chat

Google ads brought someone to a site or a “Message” button — then often silence. The form was not submitted, the manager saw the chat an hour later, the phone number was lost in a private thread, and Google Ads kept only a click with no clear outcome. In Uzbekistan, Telegram is a familiar channel for talking to businesses. The link Google Ads → Telegram bot → CRM (a system that stores leads and deals) closes the gap more carefully than a bare messenger button: the bot opens a dialog at once, asks short qualification questions, keeps campaign tags and hands the manager a card — not a screenshot from a private chat. Below — why send traffic to a bot, how not to lose UTM (source tags in the URL) and gclid (Google Ads click ID), what offline conversions are (sending valuable events back to Ads with a delay), antifraud at the start, a bot script, a 2-week plan, common mistakes and metrics. No magical ROI promises. Base: Google Ads setup, why a business needs a Telegram bot.

01The gap between click and chat: what actually breaks

The problem is rarely “bad ads” as such. More often the chain breaks after the click: the person was interested, but the business did not capture the contact in a way that can be handled and tied back to the campaign. A typical picture in Tashkent and other Uzbekistan cities: ad → site → “Write on Telegram” → chat in a manager’s private inbox → a week later nobody remembers where the client came from or which campaign worked.
BeforeAfter
Clicks exist, leads are missing in the systemDialog starts in the bot with a number/card
Source is “from Telegram” with no detailCard stores UTM + gclid from first touch
Manager replies “when they noticed”Alert + one reply channel
Ads optimized by CTR and gut feelTrack dialogs → qualified → deals
Offline events never return to AdsValuable funnel stages can train the account
The link does not replace a solid offer and fair pricing. It removes blind spots between the ads account and a real conversation.

02Why send Ads to a bot — and when you need a landing page

A landing page is needed when the service is complex: prices, cases, trust, package comparison. But part of the audience in Uzbekistan writes on Telegram faster than filling a long form — especially on mobile. After the click, a bot gives four practical things: an instant dialog start, short qualification (filtering “not our” leads), one lead inbox instead of private chats, and campaign tags saved in CRM — not only in the thread.
PathWhen it fitsRisk
Ad → landing → button to botComplex service, need prices/cases/trustIf the button strips UTM/gclid — tags are lost
Ad → direct bot linkSimple offer, fast dialog, known brandLittle “selling” before chat — more empty starts
Ad → landing + formTeam not ready for a bot and one inbox yetNight forms often go cold without a fast reply
Practical rule: complex B2B and expensive services — usually a landing with a bot button; simple offers (booking, site visit, standard order) — you can test a direct deep-link. Site funnel — conversion setup in Google Ads.

03UTM and gclid: what they are and why they belong in the lead card

Without tags you will not know which campaign started the dialog. A month later you only have “lots of clicks” and an argument: “ads don’t work / managers don’t pick up.” UTM — URL parameters (`utm_source`, `utm_medium`, `utm_campaign`, and if needed `utm_content`, `utm_term`) that mark source, channel and campaign. gclid — the ID of a specific Google Ads click; you need it later to tie a lead or deal to that click (including for offline conversions). Minimum in the lead card: • `utm_source`, `utm_medium`, `utm_campaign` (+ content/term if you compare ads/keywords) • `gclid` if present in the URL (Google Ads auto-tagging often adds it) • dialog start time and chosen service / request type • status: new → qualified → in progress → deal / lost • who replied and the next step Parameter handoff checklist (test by hand): 1. The ad URL has UTM — or auto-tagging is on, and other channels have your own tag dictionary. 2. The bot deep-link (`t.me/Bot?start=...`) or landing does not strip query params on redirect. 3. The bot saves tags in CRM / a sheet, not only prints them once in chat. 4. Test: click → dialog → card shows source / campaign / gclid. 5. Repeat on phone and desktop — stripping often appears on only one path. How to build tags — UTM guide. Without this, Ads is optimized “by feel”.

04How parameters travel: ad → bot → CRM

Technically the chain is simple, but it breaks on small details: a landing redirect, a short link without params, a “share” button without UTM, a bot that reads `/start` but never writes fields to the database.
BeforeAfter
“Message” with no tagsButton/link carries UTM and/or gclid
Params in the URL, empty in CRMBot parses the start param and writes the card
Tags only in a bot messageTags are fields of the “lead” entity, usable in reports
Different managers — different private chatsOne inbox: bot → CRM → alert
Practical scheme for Uzbekistan: 1. In Google Ads — final URL with UTM (and auto-tagging for gclid). 2. On the landing, the “Open in Telegram” button passes the same params into a deep-link, or first stores them in a cookie/session, then into the bot. 3. On `/start` the bot saves tags + service + contact. 4. CRM receives the card; the manager does not recreate the lead from scratch. If steps 2–3 fail, a “campaign → deals” report never comes together — even with strong creatives.

05Offline conversions — the idea without magic

Not every bot lead is a sale. Someone opened Telegram, answered two questions and disappeared — that is not yet a cash success. Offline conversions are a way to return a valuable action to Google Ads that happened later: a qualified lead, a store visit, a payment, a signed contract. Simplified chain: 1. The click stored `gclid` with the lead. 2. Bot/CRM recorded the event and status (for example “qualified” or “paid”). 3. Later (hours or days) the event is sent to Google Ads as a conversion tied to the same `gclid`. Not a magic button. You need clean data, a clear definition of “what counts as valuable,” consents where required, and careful account setup. For Uzbekistan businesses the point is simple — train ads on real funnel stages, not only “opened the bot.”
BeforeAfter
Conversion = any dialog startConversion = qualified lead / payment
Ads never sees how the click endedValuable statuses return to the account
Budget chased by cheap clicksTrack cost per qualified lead and per deal
When it is still early: if UTM/gclid are often empty, CRM statuses are messy, and “deal” is set retroactively without discipline — fix tracking first. Offline conversions are the next stage when data is stable. Details — conversion setup.

06Antifraud and dialog quality

Click fraud (invalid or non-target clicks) and empty bot starts also burn budget. Ads + bot without quality control can look fine in the click report and weak at the cash register. Start checklist: • watch the share of dialogs that answer qualification, not only CTR (ad click-through rate); • bot rules against repeated empty `/start` from the same account in a short window; • do not chase cheap clicks without lead-quality checks; • weekly reconcile: campaign → dialogs → qualified → deals / lost; • watch anomalies: click spikes without dialogs, dialogs without answers, one campaign with zero qualification. For a small Tashkent business, report discipline and simple bot rules are enough. A heavy antifraud engine makes sense when budget and click volume are already material — otherwise you optimize noise.

07Bot script after an Ads click

A bot after an ad click is not an “AI salesperson with 40 screens.” You need a short script after which the manager knows whom to call. Base scenario: • greeting + what the bot can do (1–2 sentences); • 3–5 qualification questions: service, district/branch, timing, budget or volume range; • contact (phone / preferred channel) + save campaign tags; • write to CRM / sheet + manager alert; • client confirmation with reply timing (“we reply in business hours by …”). Related scripts if the offer is already about booking or payment: salon/clinic booking bot, leads and payments. Length rule: if it takes more than 7 steps to reach the phone number, part of paid traffic will leave. Keep qualification short; leave deal details to a human.

082-week launch plan for the link

You do not need a perfect contour on Monday. You need an agreed goal, tags that arrive, one reply channel and a report that shows the funnel.
DaysWhat to doDone when
1–3Ads conversion goal = bot/CRM event in plain wordsTeam agrees what counts as a lead
4–7UTM/gclid reach the cardTest click visible in CRM with tags
8–10One manager reply channel + bot scriptNo personal accounts “as it goes”
11–14Report campaign → dialogs → qualification → deals + basic junk protectionWeekly reconcile exists
Complexity ranges (guide, not a price list): • capture-only bot + UTM in the card — simpler and faster; • + status discipline and a weekly report — next layer; • + offline conversions and stronger antifraud — a separate stage after stable data. Service contour — Telegram bot for business + ads.

09Metrics, mistakes and when the link is still early

Do not watch “how many clicks” alone — watch the chain. Otherwise you optimize ads that click well but convert poorly into conversations and money. Metrics that matter: • click → dialog start (share); • start → answers to qualification; • qualified lead → manager reply on time; • qualified → deal / lost with a reason; • cost per qualified lead and (when data is enough) cost per deal by campaign. Common mistakes: • direct bot link without UTM/gclid and without a phone test; • Ads conversion = any `/start`, with no qualification; • managers reply in private chat outside CRM — tags and statuses die; • offline conversions turned on before clean data; • chasing CTR while ignoring empty-dialog share. When the link is early: if you get a few leads a week and one person replies within 15 minutes from one private chat — first fix the offer and reply speed. Bot + Ads make sense when paid traffic is already flowing (or about to), and messenger chaos blocks you from seeing what pays back.

Summary

Google Ads brings attention; a Telegram bot turns the click into a structured lead with tags and a next step; CRM makes that lead visible to the team and the report. Without UTM/gclid and status discipline you buy traffic blind again — even if the creatives look good. Need a turnkey link — discuss the bot and ads with UZNEO.
