In Samarkand a map listing is opened by two very different people. A local resident searches Yandex Maps or 2GIS in Uzbek or Russian, while a tourist near Registan opens Google Maps in English. UZNEO sets up listings for hotels, restaurants and guesthouses around the old city so both can find them: a Latin name matching the sign, an accurate entrance pin, opening hours, photos and replies to reviews in the reviewer's language. Google Maps for foreign guests
A foreign visitor in Samarkand almost always searches through Google Maps: a hotel near Registan, a plov restaurant, a currency exchange or a pharmacy. So in Google Business Profile we add the Latin name exactly as on the sign, an English description, precise categories and attributes such as card payment, Wi-Fi, breakfast or a terrace. Facade photos help guests recognise the entrance from the street, while room and menu photos help them decide before the visit. The website link carries a UTM tag, so the report shows how many guests came from the map.
An accurate pin near the old city
Around Registan, Shah-i-Zinda and Siab Bazaar the buildings are dense and the lanes are narrow, so an inaccurate pin easily sends a guest to the next street. We place the pin on the actual entrance, add a clear landmark to the address and compare the point on Google, Yandex and 2GIS so the three maps do not contradict each other. If a guesthouse is entered through a courtyard, we say so in the description and show it in photos. For a restaurant we mark parking or a convenient taxi drop-off spot.
Reviews in several languages
Guests in Samarkand leave reviews in English, Russian, Uzbek and sometimes other languages. We reply in the reviewer's language: short, specific, without a template thank-you line.
